The sculpture program is diverse and inclusive, and emphasizes a balance between concept, context, and process. Students are encouraged to develop their voices as artists working within today's society. The program addresses a broad spectrum of professional practice and possibilities from objects to projects including public art.

Facilities are available for most of the processes needed to produce sculpture: wood and metal fabrication, a complete welding shop, foundry, mold making and casting, non-traditional materials and other techniques. More specialized technical training is available through the various mediums offered within the extended 3-D area.

As part of a community within one of the largest research institutions in the country, students have the opportunity to take advantage of ever expanding resources.
